23 YEARS AGO...................TODAY
It was 23 years ago today in Toronto, Canada that we first met at the last Who gig at the city's Mabel Leaf Garden venue. (It was really 1979, backstage at the Capital theatre, New Jersey-go figure and we really don't remember much-the 70's?).
It was the first final tour from the band. Gary traveled from London England and Melissa from New York City.
We met up with a lot of friends(where are they now? Marc Cohen, Jared Houser, Jim Rinaldi, Gooch, Mark Lewkavicz, Ray Skema) from both the USA and Canada on a very cold Friday night for the bands 10p.m. final show to be televised around the world via satellite.
At the end of the show, around midnight we all tried in vain to hail a taxi for a end of tour party but after waiting in sub zero temperature for over a hour we all gave up and went to our separate hotels but we just gave each other a quick kiss, and cuddle (to keep warm , of course) and swapped address and telephone numbers and went our separate ways....But, remained friends and visited each other, over the years. Until, the next Who tour (the second farewell tour) when we both got tickets for shows in London and New York and our romance kick started off once again. Now we are a boring old married couple with two wonderful children, Kayleigh Rose (age 7) and Joshua John Alec (age 3 1/2) and a lovely cat named snuggles.
Twenty three years later and it's still blinking cold, but we keep each other warm. Satellite technology has somewhat improved, put tonight's Rachel & Pete broadcast was a complete NO NO. Not, even a frame or one note! Oh well, back to bed.
